We've written an article on some of the common blogging mistakes a lot of bloggers make so feel free to check it out. We'll be giving some tips and tricks to help you rank your blog and start getting traffic.
Write a Consise Blog Post.
A lot of people would tell you to write a 2000 word long article in order to rank. I won't say its a lie but there's more to that answer. You can't just write a 2000 word long article without first checking The length of your blog post depends on your topic. If you're writing an article that requires minimal explanation then there's really no need to try to make your articles longer.
Do remember though that the minimum word length is 300 words so keep your articles above that. A great way of increasing the length of your blog post, is by adding FAQs. I keep saying this over and over again adding FAQs is a great way of increasing word length while providing value and including related keywords in to your blog posts for SEO
Instead of focusing on quantity I'd like to pay more attention on the quality of your blog posts instead. Write consise blog post that not only answers peoples questions but provides value.
By giving valuable information, you’re positioning yourself as someone they'll rely on and trust.
The word consise here dosen't just refer to the length of blog post it also includes the format.
Create blog posts that are easy to read, If you want to get your point across while still keeping your readers engaged.
Make it easy for them, people don't have time so there's really no need to waste any little they've assigned to read your blog post all in the name of 'boosting dwell time'. People don’t want to read an essay to get to the info they need so keep all the relevant information at the top of your post.
Separate your content into well-thought-out headers with the most important being at the top and keep sentences short. Make sure you avoid using the long paragraphs.
Engage your audience.
Blog engagement can contribute to SEO. If your audience shares your post and leaves comments on your blog (and you respond to these comments), its a good indicator to Google that your blog is active. And of course, mentions on social media will help drive traffic to your blog and also help with your blog’s ranking.
But how do you increase the engagement of your audience? How do you make sure that people comment on your blog post and share it on social media?
Be Relatable
Write content in a way that builds a sense of connection with your blog audience. The best way of doing this, is by writing blog posts in an informal way. Write your blog posts like you're having a conversation with a friend or a close relative. People can definitely feel the emotion behind a text so write as you'd speak.
Another great way of boosting engagement is by using multi media elements in your blog posts such as images, gifs, infograpgics and videos the more visual content on your page the easier it'll be to grab peoples attention.
Always put yourself in your readers’ shoes. Ask yourself what “problems” do they experience? And what questions are they asking online? Make sure to focus on the needs of your audience, because this is what they will recognize and what they’re searching for.
Create high-quality content
Your content should be unique. Your content should be so informative, funny, or relevant, that your site visitors want to share it with the world. Of course, this can be challenging. But if you take a few steps in preparation you’ll be able to create quality content that your readers and Google will love. You need to create content that answers peoples question in detail. That way, your audience would be satisfied and definitly come back for more.
Be consistent
In order to get people to engage with your blog, you should blog on a regular basis. Let people know what to expect. You don’t have to blog every day to create engagement, but make sure the intervals are predictable. If people know that you always publish posts on Thursdays, people might swing by your website on these Thursdays on their own initiative. Think about setting up a content planning to make this easier for yourself or your team.
Understanding your audience is crucial for the success of your blog. It will guide you about what to write about, how to present the information, and where to promote it. Knowing your audience will help inform what sort of problems you can solve with your content and what keywords will be the most valuable.
Promote your blog.
There are many ways organic and paid in which bloggers can use to promote their blogs. Even if you’ve written the best content possible, if no one’s able to find it, it won’t do any good. That’s why sharing every blog post with your audience is vital. Social media is free publicity, so share your content on Whatsapp, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, pinterest, quora or wherever your audience hangs out.
If you have an email list, then it’s a great way to share your blog posts with people who may already know you and are interested to know what you have to say. If you don’t have an email list, then your blog is the best tool for collecting emails.
Another great way to get more eyes on your blogs is to contact and possibly collaborate with the experts in your space. You can also share your blog with relevant blogging communities.
If you'd consider paying for promotion then you could contact influencers or use freelancers to promote your blog.
Don’t feel hesitant; promote your blog relentlessly. The initial traffic will help get some eyes on your content before it starts ranking.
